A worked conversion in each direction

For 70 kg: 70 ÷ 0.45359237 = 154.323583529 lb, which is 154.32 lb to two decimal places.

For 150 lb: 150 × 0.45359237 = 68.0388555 kg, which is 68.04 kg to two decimal places.

How much rounding is useful?

  • Whole pounds are often enough for a rough comparison.
  • One decimal place is readable for tracking body mass on a typical home scale.
  • Two decimal places suit luggage, shipping estimates, and worked calculations.
  • Three or four decimals make sense only when the original measurement supports that precision.

A common airline allowance of 23 kg converts to about 50.71 lb. The airline’s published limit and its scale decide whether a bag is accepted, so leave a practical margin rather than packing to the final decimal.

Definition, limits, and checks

Kilograms are units of mass. People often call the converted pound value “weight” in everyday use; this tool performs the standard mass-unit conversion and does not correct for measurement error. The constant comes from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
