What Is Palworld Breeding?

Breeding in Palworld allows you to combine two Pals at a Breeding Farm to produce an Egg. The offspring inherits traits, passive skills, and stats from both parents. Understanding breeding combinations is essential for creating powerful Pals for combat, work, or base management. Each combination follows a fixed formula — so knowing the output before you breed saves you significant time and resources.

The breeding system uses a power value system to determine offspring. Each Pal has a fixed power number, and the average of the two parents determines which Pal will hatch from the egg. This makes it possible to predict exactly which Pal you’ll get — which is exactly what this calculator does for you.

Passive Skill Inheritance

Each offspring can inherit up to 4 passive skills from its parents. The probability of inheriting a specific skill depends on how many skills the parents carry. To maximise skill inheritance, breed parents that each carry 4 desirable passive skills. Top-tier passive skills to aim for include:

  • Legend — +20% attack, defence, and movement speed
  • Musclehead — +30% attack, but work speed reduced
  • Swift — +30% movement speed
  • Ferocious — +20% attack
  • Artisan — +50% work speed (essential for base Pals)

Palworld Breeding FAQ

How many times can a Pal breed?

There is currently no breeding limit in Palworld. You can breed the same pair of Pals as many times as you like. Each egg will have a chance of inheriting different passive skills, so multiple attempts are often needed to get your ideal combination.

Can two of the same Pal breed together?

Yes — breeding two of the same species together will always produce the same species offspring. This is the most reliable way to pass down passive skills while keeping the same Pal type.

What is the fastest way to get a perfect Pal?

Start with Pals that already carry 2–3 of your desired passive skills, then breed them together over multiple generations. Each generation, select the offspring with the most desired skills and continue breeding. It typically takes 5–10 generations to achieve a Pal with all 4 desired passives.

Does gender affect breeding outcomes?

The gender of the parents does not affect which species of offspring is produced. However, both a male and female Pal are required for breeding — two of the same gender cannot breed together.

What items are needed for breeding?

You need a Breeding Farm (unlocked at Technology Level 19), a Cake (crafted from wheat flour, red berries, milk, eggs, and honey), and one male and one female Pal. The breeding process takes real time to complete depending on server settings.
