Days Between Dates FAQ

Does this calculator include or exclude the end date?

By default, the calculator counts the total number of days between the two dates, not including the end date. For example, from 1 May to 10 May = 9 days.

How do I count only working days?

To count working days (Monday–Friday), divide the total calendar days by 7, multiply by 5, and adjust for any public holidays that fall within the period.

Can I calculate days between dates in different years?

Yes — this calculator works for any two dates regardless of how far apart they are, automatically accounting for leap years and varying month lengths.

How the day count is calculated

The calculator compares two calendar dates and reports the elapsed number of days. In the standard result, the start date is day zero and the end date is not counted as a complete extra day. That is why 1 May to 10 May gives 9 elapsed days. If your deadline, booking or policy counts both boundary dates, add one day to the result.

Leap days and different month lengths are handled automatically. For example, 28 February 2028 to 1 March 2028 is two elapsed days because 2028 includes 29 February. The tool uses calendar dates rather than clock times, so daylight-saving changes do not add or remove a day.

Working days, holidays and deadlines

A calendar-day result includes weekends. Do not estimate working days by multiplying weeks by five when accuracy matters: partial weeks and public holidays can change the answer. For legal, visa, tax, employment or contract deadlines, check whether the rule says calendar days, business days or inclusive days, and confirm the official deadline with the responsible organisation.
